About Hawley, TX - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
The city of Hawley is located in Jones County, Texas. Placed in the fertile valley of the Clear Fork of the Brazos, it is part of the Abilene, Texas Metropolitan Statistical Area. With a population of 634 residents according to the 2010 census, this small town has a total area of 2.9 square miles.
Hawley has a compelling history. The town was founded as the direct result of the construction of Wichita Valley Railroad, and was named after a respected railroad official C.W. Hawley. According to some other sources, the town got its name from US Congressman Robert B. Hawley.
Soon after its foundation, the railroad town welcomed many families from far and wide to shape up a vibrant community. An oil boom spared the residents from the consequences of the Great Depression. The town recovered from the droughts of 1950s and has been thriving ever since. Hawley was officially incorporated on June 20, 1970.
Located approximately 15 miles North of Abilene and 10 miles South of Anson, just off Highway 277 and Highway 83, Hawley is easy to access. With plenty of attractions and leisure options Hawley remains on the map of tourists visiting Texas. Mobile Home Parks and Trailer Parks add to the charm of this Texan escape.
Sports facilities like Hawley Youth Association Sports Complex and Hawley Little League Park encourages healthy and active lifestyle among the residents. Served by the Hawley Independent School District, the city of Hawley places importance on education and skill development. Many vibrant businesses provide a solid economic base for the community.
When compared with other US cities, Hawley gets below average precipitation. It receives 26 inches of rain per year and about 4 inches of snowfall. With 241 sunny days per year on average, the summers can be scorching hot with temperature soaring to 95 degrees. Dependable air conditioners help the residents weather the heat. The January low of 32 degrees makes a heat pump essential.
